Cunina
Oil on canvas
50cm x 70cm (19.75" x 27.5")
The imposing figure of Silbury Hill stands like one of the Great Pyramids of Egypt, with the sun setting behind it. Water surrounds the hill, whilst a Foetus, safe within the womb, sits in the bottom left-hand corner. Cunina means "Goddess who protects children in the cradle". This sums up the meaning of Silbury: Mother Earth, providing crops and the fertility of the land.
